As a Gen Xer, born in 1976, I grew up in the 1980’s. Times were much less politically correct. Eddie Murphy and Andrew Dice Clay alone attest to this.
Now, to be clear, Dice is garbage. Yes, I laughed at him as a teenager, but now I just see him as a filthy pervert. Eddie Murphy, well, I’d bet he’s still very talented. However, I’m not here to dissect politically incorrect phenomena of the 1980’s.
And I absolutely wouldn’t say all the 80’s stuff was wholesale for kids. Not at all. Seeing Revenge of the Nerds at age 7 wasn’t right.
However, my point is that I detest people my age pretending they don’t know how to laugh at things now deemed politically incorrect. No. Stop it. Laugh.
You know what? Racial jokes can be funny. Women jokes can be funny. Homosexual jokes can be funny. So on and so forth.
Yes, they can be degrading. They can be in poor taste and downright filthy.
Furthermore, I also fully recognize Paul said in Ephesians 5:3-4:
“But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting…”
Coarse jesting would definitely describe Eddie Murphy’s early 80’s political incorrectness, and, obviously, I’m not saying we should go around talking like he did in Delirious. That would be a bit uncouth. So how would I reconcile laughing at Eddie Murphy with Ephesians 5:4?
Well, right now, I’m not. I’ve got better things to do.
At the same time, there is absolutely a time to laugh! There is a time to laugh at differences, stereotypes, prejudices and other things the evil ones say we should never laugh at. Just to defy them is reason enough. But there are more reasons.
The evil ones don’t want you laughing at differences among people because they want us all afraid of each other. They want us all angry at each other. They want us divided.
They want you to hold back your natural impulses, thoughts and observations. They want you to think and say and do as they tell you. Political correctness is not about love for the “oppressed”. It’s about dominating your mind and soul – and certainly your words.
They want you to think that laughing at political incorrectness means you will become blind to your prejudices and, therefore, you will grow hatred within your own heart. They want you to think that laughing yields social injustice, cultural oppression, economic oppression, slavery and other outlandish things. They want you afraid of all their names, “racist” only being one of many.
When millions of people are in this state of fear, and all think differently about what their culture and civilization should be like, they are a disjointed mass ripe for conquering. They are incapable of rallying around the flag of truth to repulse the lies of the enemy. Not only are they too afraid to vocalize truth, but they’re also afraid just to think it!
At its essence, political correctness is the promulgation of new and false morals intended to make us afraid of the thought police of a new type of civilization. The evil ones want the Oceania of 1984. They want a New World Order and a Great Reset – call it what you want. If you can’t see that at this point, well, bless your heart.
However, I think a majority in this country would know what I’m saying is spot on. And even if you are afraid to speak the truth, and if you are afraid to offend others in full room, you can still laugh. Yes, you can still laugh at political incorrectness!
Laughing is a form of defiance. It frees you from fear. Without words it expresses that it’s ok not to take the evil ones so seriously. It makes others around you think it’s ok to be free too. And that is good.
Laughter breaks tension. It overcomes differences. To laugh at political incorrectness is not to approve of hatred, oppression and murder. The fact that I even have to say such a commonsense thing demonstrates how under a spell so many are.
And it is a spell. It’s a spell of fear cast by the incessant noise all around us on our phones, computers, televisions, movies, radios, so on and so forth. The evil of political correctness has so deeply percolated into our culture, it’s hard to see it for what it is.
I say those who say otherwise are the actual ones most brainwashed and most prone to hatred, oppression and murder. Look at today’s Woke. Look at Antifa. Look at BLM. They’re all Bolsheviks in training, and if you don’t know the bloody, murderous history of Bolshevism, well, you should.
So don’t be commie. Laugh at them. Defy them. Defy them all.
But still be Christian. How do you balance all this? Well, how do you balance all your life? That’s why God gave you a mind to discern.
So, discern.
Anyway, some dude from my government schooling days who wants to feign a phony moral superiority now inspired this.
