I don’t know if anyone’s ever been able to share my photos because of the privacy status of my personal Facebook page.
Regardless, now one can. LIKE and SHARE and FOLLOW Charles Torello Photography if you wish. I’d like to see what numbers I can grow.
Anyway, I share this one because it’s my all-time favorite photo. It’s at Grand Canyon National Park. This view is right next to the line to line for the Hermit’s Rest Shuttle – the red shuttle line – on the South Rim.
You are looking northward. The Bright Angel Trail starts right below. It can take you to that trail in the middle of the photo which affords a view from the top of Grand Canyon’s inner gorge. The overlook is called Plateau Point. I’ve only been there once.
It’s called the Bright Angel Trail because it traverses the Bright Angel Canyon, which you see running northward on the upper half of the photo. Here Grand Canyon, from where I stand to the top back of the Bright Angel, is roughly 17 miles wide. This is where people hike “rim to rim”.
I’ve not done rim to rim. One day I hope to. It takes some planning. It takes time, effort and sweat. However, in spite of the fact that some Americans have a prejudice against seeing the Grand Canyon, because they think it’s overrated, I do not. It’s worth effort and planning.
Truly, I rank it as #1 in the American West. Out of all the Parks I’ve seen, I say there is no better one. Yes, some are close. Yosemite’s close. Zion, Brice and Yellowstone wow too.
But summer storms casting shadows on the Canyon’s interior to make bands of light and dark – that’s why I say it’s #1.
