“The Grand Canyon’s overrated.”
“It’s nice, but how long can you look at rocks?”
“It’s just a big, brown hole in the desert. Nothing more.”
I’ve heard all these dismissals. I don’t agree with them.
First, PURPLE, to me, is a more defining color of the Canyon. Actually, it’s purple and a kaleidoscope of colors – and forms – that produce sensory overload more than a mere hole would.
Second, if all you see is rocks, if you don’t see vastness, if you don’t see powerful geological forces, if you don’t see something to wonder about that can make you look at rocks for hours, well, bless your heart.
Third, it’s not overrated. Not at all.
But to each their own.
Took this in January 2017, on a Creationist tour. I was never the same again. Thank God.
2017 feels like another lifetime ago.
Maybe it was. But there’s still lots of life to live.
