From Charles Torello Photography on Facebook…

Above Lower Yellowstone Falls. Yellowstone National Park. Northwest Wyoming. August 2022.

You walk 500′ down switchbacks to a landing above the falls.

Here you’re facing almost due east. In the morning, with the sun in the eastern sky, the double rainbows weren’t visible. I figured after noon the rainbows would appear. They did.

Now… Yellowstone NP is a magical place. For quite a while, white settlers didn’t believe this land existed. They didn’t believe the geysers and boiling mudholes and prismatic springs existed. Well, of course, they do. These are not to be missed.

There are also the animals. It’s quite easy to see buffalo and elk roam. Moose, grizzlies and wolves are harder to spot. Saw moose there. Saw a black bear there. No grizzlies or wolves though. Maybe next time, if God is so gracious.

But the Yellowstone Canyon is what makes Yellowstone National Park. The colors, contours, shadows, clouds and rainbows of this canyon make this park what it is. Without the canyon and falls… the Park wouldn’t be the same. Period.

And… to see such natural phenomena… to prioritize seeing such natural phenomena… I do wonder if such is worth it. I do wonder what it does for the whole character of a man.

I can’t say. But I can’t say I regret seeing this. Not one dang bit.
