While developing the below photos in Adobe Lightroom, three things occurred to me.

One, I wish I had more patience. These photos are perfectly mediocre. Had I taken a bit more time along this isolated stretch of the Dolores River, on 2026-6-2, well, the photos could have been upgraded to “decent”. But I forgive myself as I can never know what I would have liked to spend more time photographing while exploring.

Two, roads are neat. They create lines and depth and therefore better compositions. Granted, they may not meet the ideals of landscape photography in galleries, but they do help to create impressions of lands far away. Perhaps this can be a new genre.

Three, there are a ton of good roads around Sedona whose potential I’ve not exploited. This is not to say that I’m now filled with gusto to hang around the shoulders of Arizona highways for hours. But there are shots I do want to take along 89A and 179.

When it’s not so dang hot.

Anyways, along this stretch of the Dolores I only got six that are mediocre. I don’t know how good or bad I make photos by altering them in Lightroom. So, I figured I’d post the original next to the altered, and see if any comments or generated that offer good critique.
